Bundles of Eleventy Recs!

Inspired by
clocketpatch and
promethia_tenk , I come bearing recs! I may have already recced some of these to one or all of you in the past, but I wanted to collect the things that gave me fannish glee of late and share them! Most of them are relatively recent, although there are a few things that are a bit older. If you know of anything spiffy you'd like to rec to me, I'd be ever so grateful. :)

Fanfic:
Untitled drabble by
melignomon : This is a short, bittersweet look at Rory. I don't really know what to say about it other than it manages to really capture him in just over 400 words. The ending in particular is so perfectly, heartbreakingly Rory.
let it always be known that I was who I am by
loneraven : This is a bit older, but it's still wonderful. It's Amy and Rory in the years before the Doctor came back. Amy is mad and impossible, as you do, and Rory loves her exactly how she is. It does deal with mental health issues, so I suppose this is a mild warning if that's upsetting for you.

Answering Noises in the Night by
black_eyedgirl : Post-"The Doctor's Wife," the Doctor is understandably feeling quite lonely, and Amy and Rory remind him that he's not alone. It's listed as OT3, but it reads more like one of the best "Team TARDIS as a family" fics I've seen. The author is on LiveJournal, but the story is only available on the AO3.

The Space Flu Blues by
sahiya :
sahiya wrote this for me as part of a ficathon (thank you, dear!). Rory is feeling poorly and just wants to be left alone. Amy and the Doctor just want to help. Very cute. Again, the author is a LJ user, but the story's only on the AO3.

Thorns by
honeynoir : Also received through a ficathon (thanks so much!). Adorable River/Doctor banter. The Doctor continues to be ridiculous even when slightly impaled by a thorn, and River is, as always, smug and sensible.

Night Terrors and Boxing Day by Lyricwritesprose: Apparently Lyricwritesprose is new to DW fanfic, but you wouldn't believe it. "Night Terrors" is one of the best fics I've ever read, so much so that it warranted its own rec post. It's a lovely, bittersweet Rory POV fic looking at the Doctor's strangeness and kindness, what it means to be good and be brave, and the darker parts of life on the TARDIS. "Boxing Day" is a fix-it of sorts, wherein Wilf meets Eleven. It's such a lovely, human story, and Eleven is just as adorably daft as you like.
Quantum by
nostalgia_lj : Creepy in all the ways it should be--a darker look at the universe the way Amy remade it, filtered through quantum physics. What if she forgot Rory and loved the Doctor instead? Very compelling, intelligent, and eerie.

see that picture, that was me by
leiascully : A lovely look at Amy and Rory growing up in the remade universe. Neither Amy nor Rory conforms to society's expectations, but they find kindred spirits in each other. So sweet!

Songs of Innocence and Experience by
rosa_acicularis : Not new, but still good! Amy and Rory meet a mysterious stranger when Rose tries to find her way back to their universe. It feels very real, even though it's all timey-wimey, and it's quite lovely and bittersweet. Wonderful characterization all the way around, especially the little details of Amy and Rory's relationship and Rory's background gentleness.

Don't Wander Off and Balance of Power by
eve11 : I always love her stories, and these two are splendid! "Don't Wander Off" is a charming little story wherein the Doctor gets into trouble to fix the TARDIS, and she looks after him in her own way. Doctor/TARDIS is one of my favorite 'ships, and this is a very sweet look at their relationship. "Balance of Power" is a really compelling story of the Doctor being captured while trying to assist in a revolution on a planet of telepaths. It's not that long, but the secondary characters, the plot, and all the little details are very well-drawn.

Other fanworks:
Rory Williams: Kind of a Selfish Git and Amy Pond Grows Up--Doctor Who Series 5, Adulthood, and the Monomyth by
sarah531 : Both lovely meta discussions of S5. The Rory one isn't anti-Rory, I promise! It just looks at his flaws as well as his strengths. The monomyth one is a nice breakdown of the archetypical elements of Amy's journey.
Doctor Who Stationery by
lunar47 : Lined and unlined stationery made from S6 and Christmas Special caps! It's lovely, and the colors are the perfect balance between light enough to write on and saturated enough to be pretty. It prints beautifully if you adjust your printer settings so that it prints borderless and fits nicely into the print area.

Stories We Tell Our Children : This isn't new by any means, but I still enjoy it so much I thought I'd link to it. It's a podfic version by
such_heights of the story by
calapine . It's "The Big Bang" in story form, and it's very fairy tale in all the best ways.
such_heights has a lovely voice, which complements the story well. If you'd rather read (and somehow haven't seen this story yet), the link points to an entry that will let you go to the download or the original text.

Like a Name in a Fairy Tale: Amelia Pond by
winninghearts : LJ is having trouble embedding vids, rendering the LJ entry for the vid broken, so the link goes to YouTube. A lovely look at the magic of Amy's story, set to the most charming twinkly music.
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
When I Was a Boy by
beccatoria : Inspired by the same Dar Williams song as "see that picture, that was me." Another look at Amy and Rory and the ways they don't fit in except together, especially re: gender roles. A charming vid for a charming song! LJ embedding is still wonky, but you can download it if streaming is down.
