Elementary: Um, I could try to words, but most of my feelings can be condensed to "As if men had a monopoly on murder" or "You named a bee after me?" Also, it makes me really happy that Sherlock's reaction to Irene/Moriarty was basically "I've never had a nemesis before," and to Joan was HERE BEES FOR YOU. Outsmarted by ladies? That is actually fine, my mascot is the best and just beat the Napoleon of Crime.

EVERYTHING IS BEES AND NOTHING HURTS. WHICH IS KIND OF THE OPPOSITE OF HOW BEES WORK IN REAL LIFE, BUT WHAT DO YOU KNOW.

Doctor Who: I am not sure what happened, exactly, but it was very ~atmospheric and ~moody and OH NO ELEVENTY CRYING ON THE SOFA AND RIVER IS HIS EX and OH NO JENNY DON'T DIE and OH NO THE TARDIS IS BLOWING UP LIKE THAT BLUEBERRY GIRL FROM WILLY WONKA and then CRAZY STUFF IS HAPPENING and Clara is everywhere and she really looks like Ace when you dress her up in retro clothes. Actually you could pretty convincingly give her to any of the past Doctors if you put her in the right outfit. And then the Doctor shows up but is not the Doctor AND MONTHS-LONG CLIFFHANGER STARTS NOW. As they say on Tumblr, CLARA U OK?

BUT IT'S OKAY BECAUSE RIVER IS NOT REALLY HIS EX BECAUSE SHE IS ALWAYS WITH HIM. AND THEY'LL FIND A WAY TO GET CLARA OUT.

I was very confused by what was happening with River because she had always been in the library so I didn't understand when she got "properly" dead, or why he could see her ghost-y thing.

I hope they get Clara out! Living in the timestream forever sounds very tiring.

But yeah, it's Doctor Who, they can fix whatever they want.:P

She's in the Library, but that's an echo of what's saved that I think is in the TARDIS, because the TARDIS made the screwdriver that saved River. I'm not sure she is properly dead, because she pointed out that she was still around. I think the Library copy is still saved and the TARDIS echo has faded now, because all the people in the Library were preserved pretty well.

Also beeeeeeeeeees. Joan and Holmes are best bros. I really enjoyed the nemesis lunch.

So she had two data ghosts, and the one in the TARDIS is gone now, taking us back to status quo? Okay, thanks for explaining that. MAN THIS SHOW IS SO COMPLICATED I NEED FOOTNOTES OR SOMETHING.

Joan and Sherlock being bros is my favorite. I don't even want to ship them, I just want them to keep giving each other the stinkeye and throwing basketballs at each other's faces and attempting to use bees as relationship milestones. :P

That's my interpretation/understanding! The Doctor couldn't let go (or the TARDIS), so the TARDIS kept an echo of the ghost that's in the Library. Like a livestream, maybe. A deadstream. :S

Exactly. Exactly!

"Deadstream" sounds like the kind of really morbid joke that River would think was hilarious, all the more so because of how absolutely horrified everyone else would be when she made it about herself. :P

I don't think I can get past the description of ELEMENTARY IS FLAWLESS in regards to the finale because that's basically of how it is. BEES. JOAN AND SHERLOCK CAN NOW MAKE BEE ASSASSINS AND SHERLOCK CAN WAKE HER UP GOING 'JOAN WAKE UP WATSON BEES ARE COMING FOR US'. Or something.

The mascot beat the (female) Napoleon of Crime who was the Woman Who (still and always will) Beat Sherlock. THIS SHOW.

I'm not really sure what to make of Doctor Who still. River's somehow there post Library? But it felt very much like an ending to River's storyline, or was that just me? And then the whole Doctor that's not a Doctor- does that mean Eleven's actually Twelve and Nine was actually Ten then?

Date: 2013-05-20 04:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com
Haha oh dear he would, right? He would wake her up in the middle of the night and be like THE BEES ARE COMING THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WE HAVE TO RUN and Joan would be like WHY ARE YOU SMILING LIKE THAT? WHY ARE YOU SMILING? THAT'S NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT GOOD!

I think they wanted it to feel like an ending, but they also wanted to leave a failsafe? Kind of like with the library in the first place? And I *think* technically Eleven is actually Twelve but we get around renumbering because JohnHurt!Doctor wasn't calling himself the Doctor? But who knows, it's Doctor Who, trying to understand it is basically impossible. :P

I have a feeling that's actually how S2 is going to open with Sherlock bursting in going WATSON! BEES!

Yeah- it wasn't an absolute or complete final goodbye like in the case of the Ponds, but it felt more or less like an ending to the River story?

See, I had thought about that but then the credits had rolled around and it was like 'introducing John Hurt as The Doctor'? Which seems kind of odd since Eleven had just spent time saying how the man wasn't the Doctor, so.

I feel like WATSON! BEES! sums up a lot of this show, actually. :P

It did feel like more or less an end.

Yeah, that was confusing. I assume they were just trying to say "This guy is also the Doctor, except not, except that won't fit on a credits line," but then it could have some deeper meaning as Moffat does love to troll the audience. :P

Eleven's actually Twelve and Nine was actually Ten then?
My interpretation was that 11 is the 11th Doctor, because JohnHurt!Doctor didn't live up to the promise and so cannot call himself the Doctor. So 11 is the 12th version of the body, but only the 11th Doctor. I think...

Yeah, I think that's it.

Yeah, that's what I had started to think as well, but the end scene with the introduction of 'John Hurt as The Doctor' just has me kind of baffled? But I suppose we'll see in November.

And that's why she's not a very good surgeon but she's a FANTASTIC...uh...consulting companion sober mascot detective. WHATEVER SHE IS SHE'S REALLY AWESOME AT IT OK.

Unless... was Eight in the Classic Doctor montage at all? Because I didn't see him, and I watched for him. Twice. So I'm wondering now if John Hurt is playing an older Eight.

And, while I'd far rather Paul McGann to play Eight, if he were to show up at the end of the finale, well, that would be the game up right there wouldn't it? So they find a different actor and then leave us all dancing around wanting to know what's going on and speculating like mad for five months. Evil.

I personally was not paying enough attention to notice, but [livejournal.com profile] lizbee had a theory regarding John Hurt as a version of Eight, and in the discussion on her journal some people reported seeing Eight walking past Clara.

But I don't know if that rules out the theory or not?

I had to skip this entry because I only just got around to watching the Elementary finale but OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG that was amazing! I love how awesome Joan was but frankly, I also loved how they did Moriarty. I like how this show is working and I'm excited to see what's in store for next season. You know, this show was kind of a sleeper hit for me: I liked it enough to keep watching but it never took over my thought processes. But that has been changing and with the finale? Totally taking over my thought processes now.

(Claraaaaaaaaa urgh cliffhanger)

Sleeper hit is a good way to describe it. It took me a while to really get fannish feelings about it, too--until maybe the episode with Ms. Watson?
