Elementary: Joan learned to jack cars! Alfredo came back! The issue of Joan moving in with a former client was acknowledged/lampshaded, and then moved past! Joan became a real detective and solved her first case! In summary, everything was good times this week.

Young Justice: I finally finished catching up on Season 1, just in time for the internet to explode with crying about Season 2. (I am plenty spoiled and not at all worried about it, if you want to flail at me.) How do I watch Season 2, short of piracy or buying every single episode individually? Will they start airing reruns soon? Does anyone know when the DVDs are coming out?

Wait, I was supposed to be talking about Season 1. Okay, before my feelings get ahead of me, I know this is stupid but I have to ask: what is happening with everyone's clothes in the winter episodes? Why does everyone change into parkas, but Superboy is like, oh, I am cold, but only cold enough to put on long sleeves? Why does Wally NOT CHANGE AT ALL? How does his outfit morph like that? Why does Dick wear that stupid half-balaclava thing that makes him look like some kind of tiny skullmaster? Okay, I'm done now.

Anyway, I have a lot of feelings about M'gann and the whole Hello, Megan thing, and about Superboy and flying, and about EVERYONE REVEALING THEIR SECRETS, GAH. Dick knew Artemis' secret AND IT NEVER MATTERED. (Except didn't he start to say something about it once? With, like, Batman or something?) AND SUPERBOY KNEW ABOUT M'GANN'S TRUE FORM. (And, am I making this up, or did he find out in that episode where she had to give him back his memories? Didn't he tell her in that episode that he had some extra memories, and she asked if he wanted her to take them away, and he was like, no, THANK YOU? Tell me I didn't make that up, I AM DEAD OF FEELINGS.) This is, like, my two favorite things all at once, okay? It's like Beauty & the Beast AND the-sad-robot-discovers-its-humanity, and they are BOTH finding their humanity AND being scary AND helping find each other. I AM SORRY, EXCESSIVE SHIPPING FEELINGS.

Also the circus episode was really gorgeous, oh my goodness the snow.

In other news, Doctor Who comes back in two weeks and the new trailer looks fantastic! It's like, Lovecraftian horror steampunk dubstep Doctor Who, starring a badass yet adorable tiny lady and Matt Smith! Here is the video, via [livejournal.com profile] elisi.

The first ten episodes of S2 are on DVD already, as Young Justice: Invasion: Destiny Calling. If I had to guess I'd say the last ten episodes wouldn't be on DVD until around July.

(Except didn't he start to say something about it once? With, like, Batman or something?)

Yup! He starts to say something in Secrets when he, Kaldur, Roy, Batman, and Red Tornado, but Batman cuts him off and says she's entitled to her secret identity.

(And, am I making this up, or did he find out in that episode where she had to give him back his memories? Didn't he tell her in that episode that he had some extra memories, and she asked if he wanted her to take them away, and he was like, no, THANK YOU? Tell me I didn't make that up, I AM DEAD OF FEELINGS.)

He did find out then, but I don't remember him saying anything about having extra memories at the time. I COULD BE WRONG, THOUGH.

Why do they release the DVD sets in so many pieces? Is it because they have to split the seasons when they air them?

Aha! I it was when thought they were talking about the mole.

I don't know, but it's the worst! I think it's just a cartoon thing? They started off releasing it four episodes at a time, which is definitely something you see more of with ACTUAL kids' shows, although you'd think with something based on comics characters they'd go with a distribution model that fit the older audience better.

That's weird. I guess USA does split seasons sometimes, and the BBC has done some really nutty stuff trying to make the most of its funding or accommodate actors' schedules. But four episodes at at time really seems like it'd be hard to keep your audience's attention.

i can't speak to the others, but the reason wally doesn't change is because his speedster powers keep his body temperatures at a permanent high (they also explain why his metabolism is so crazy). also his outfit morphs because he modified it - he only ACTS stupid, boy is supposed to be only second to dick as far as brains go (hard to believe but it's true!!! i can't find the source now, but there was some sort of official chart with all the team's intelligence rankings and wally and dick were neck and neck.) he's also supposed to be some kind of scientific prodigy while dick is obviously the hacking expert, so yeah, i think the explanation is supposed to be that he tweaked the suit somehow.

M'GANN GAVE ME ALL THE FEELINGS DURING S1 BECAUSE I WAS KIND OF MEH ABOUT HER AT FIRST??? and then image happened and it was like HOLY SHIT, M'GANN. and then the usual suspects was when i fell in love with conner (never to fall back out). they are admittedly not my favourite couple (for reasons i'd get into if i weren't afraid of spoiling you), but the hand-holding (claw-holding?) was definitely one of my top 10 moments of the entire series, maybe even top 5.

Why doesn't Wally's metabolism give him super-healing, then? I don't know if this happens on the show, but I know in the Teen Titans comics Bart heals so fast that they freak out when he breaks his knee because they're afraid it won't get set before it heals wrong. But then I think Bart has an even faster metabolism? Or something. I don't know as much about the Flashes as I do about the Bats.

Oh, right, Wally and science, right? Didn't he make the accident that gave him speed powers or something?

People were telling me M'gann was awesome and at first I was like, okay, whatever, and then she was adorable, and then she was adorable and badass, and then SO MANY FEELINGS ALL IN A ROW AHH.

You don't have to worry about spoiling me, I am probably already spoiled. Like I know they break up and stuff.

Wally does have accelerated healing in the show.

And yes, he did create the accident that gave him the speed powers!

I AM GLAD PEOPLE SAID NICE THINGS ABOUT M'GANN because she's probably also the fandom's biggest punching bag :(

B-but the scene in which they explain their break-up is SO GOOD. I really don't want to spoil you for it D: I have mixed feelings about Conner/M'gann - I've actually enjoyed them infinitely more as exes with sexual tension than a lovey-dovey couple. It's not that I'm against them as a ship per se so much as I think become much more interesting once Conner gains a little more... experience? (And M'gann a little more self-awareness.) Because in S1 Conner is really a baby who knows NOTHING OF THE OUTSIDE WORLD and M'gann is basically a glorified fangirl who originally falls *for* Conner because he reminds her of the boyfriend character from Hello Megan, so something about their relationship always felt "off" to me.

OH. Okay, I guess, yeah, if he had the cast on for a month and then was back fighting with that arm again pretty much right after, that is faster than a normal person, esp. since most people need physical therapy. I guess I'm just used to shows moving those things along faster and handwaving the time.

I keep hearing that fandom hates her but apparently I have avoided this terrible fandom of which everyone speaks.

That makes sense, yeah, because they both are pretty emotionally immature in certain ways. This sounds interesting, I look forward to seeing it, then!

i think they've gotten over it, finally. she does grow up a lot in s2, although she gets shit for other (arguably more justified) things. but she's probably one of my favourites in s2 for the somewhat darker direction in which her character development takes her...

WARNING THOUGH, s2 is supposed to be plot-based where s1 was character-based. so the character moments are more like nuggets, really, albeit incredibly satisfying ones (for the most part).

Oh, I guess that makes sense that they'd have to fit more in less time if it's the last season.

A longer version of the circus episode would be really interesting, yeah.

Right? It's like a show that has figured out what we want it to do AND ACTUALLY DOES IT.

S2 is not a very...uh...happy season, is it?
