Feb. 20th, 2013 05:03 pmIn other news, I started watching Elementary again, because my dad dragged me into it. I think I'm caught up to, like, episode 14 now? I wouldn't say I'm terribly fannish about it, but I do like it. Joan and Sherlock have an interesting relationship.
I am also 4 episodes into Young Justice and have the next disc from Netflix sitting in the devouring mess that is my desk.
I had another appointment with my neurologist about my migraines last week. That went...not terribly well. Which would be par for the course, hence I am seeing a new, different, hopefully more helpful and also nicer neurologist next month.
I always feel like posts should have conclusions and never know what they should be. Um. Yeah, I don't know. What have you guys been up to lately?

Date: 2013-02-21 02:49 am (UTC)I'm with you. Actually, gonna put up a new meme tomorrow: post the final sentence of your last 15 entries. I can't wait to see what brilliant literary gold I'm about to unearth...

Date: 2013-02-21 04:26 am (UTC)I'm not terribly fannish about Elementary, either, but at the same time I'm enjoying it. I actually quite like Joan finding her feet with Sherlock and being a bit more spunky. It's fun. Nothing has made me go "OH WOW!" but at the same time I keep coming back...
Urgh I'm sorry to hear that your appointment didn't go well. Good luck with your new neurologist.

Date: 2013-02-21 04:52 am (UTC)Joan being spunky is definitely fun. I like that she will tell Sherlock when he is being a jerk, and he will at least listen to her, even if he doesn't necessarily stop.
Thank you!

Date: 2013-02-21 05:45 am (UTC)Yeah, Elementary isn't very fannish in terms of the format of the show? But Joan and Sherlock are basically my favorite BFF relationship currently airing right now, I think.
Ergh, was your old neurologist just not helpful in pinpointing why the migraines were happening?
Uhh, I'm off in the southwest of the US and went to Vegas for two days? I think that's about it in terms of news
beyond the ever increasingly complicated issue of grad schoolno subject
Date: 2013-02-21 06:15 am (UTC)Hmm, the format of the show? What is a fannish show format vs. a non-fannish show format? But yeah, it is fun to see them hang out and be snarky and learn to be friends.
No, it wasn't that--it was just really frustrating to work with him because he was really pessimistic and hard to communicate with. Also one time when I was having problems with my medication I had to call his office three days in a row before I could get anyone to call me back.
Ooh, a vacation? Fun times! How is the grad school thing working out? Did you get that school to extend your deadline?

Date: 2013-02-22 02:06 am (UTC)Well, I suppose the crime procedural format with the larger lack of a focus on a romantic ship, since it seems like a lot of crime procedurals tend to draw a lot of fans more towards the principal ship itself in a lot of cases?
Ergh, bad office service and communication do not a good doctor make. Or physician, or anyone you want to see about your health, I suppose.
Yep- off to the desert for little over a week, haha. The grad school thing actually took up almost all of today to get sorted out, before I was finally able to negotiate out a new deadline at March 15 (right on the day of the original deadline, too). Which isn't ideal, but I suppose that if another school comes through with a better offer later, I'll deal with it then.

Date: 2013-02-22 03:44 am (UTC)Sorry, what? I am confused.
It wasn't the people in the office's fault, just the doctor was not very good about returning messages. But yeah.
Hooray for desert vacations and getting things sorted! And yeah, March 15 is still really early, but at least that gives you a little more time.

Date: 2013-02-22 08:04 pm (UTC)Yeah, it gives me just enough time that if another school does come through a bit later, I can say that I tried my best to get an extension with them and just throw my hands up
but seeing how two schools don't stop accepting applications till May and June wellno subject

Date: 2013-02-21 07:04 pm (UTC)It is nice to see a show that emphasizes friendship and respect, isn't it? :)
Thanks. Hopefully my next appointment will go better.
Ooh, French? I always wanted to learn French. Are you taking a class or learning it on your own?

Date: 2013-02-21 01:06 pm (UTC)This weekend I actually have some free time without stuff hanging over my head! Woot!
Ugh, that sucks about the neurologist; I hope you have more progress with the new one :(

Date: 2013-02-22 12:42 am (UTC)Your suggestion of the Doctor as Babbage with Ada Lovelace for the AU-historical square got me thinking about Three and Liz Shaw. And I had an idea for turning the slavefic thing on its ear with Peri and Six, but it was a pretty bare bones idea.
Here it is, not even 8pm, and I've got the WIP-o-Doom open and am staring at it, at any rate :)

Date: 2013-02-22 12:46 am (UTC)Good luck with the WIP-o-Doom! Is it still in car-chase-land?

Date: 2013-02-22 12:52 am (UTC)Still in car chase land, yeah. Nearly out of it in current draft, but said draft may be subject to massive editing even of the 800 or so words I've managed.
