I think we may safely say that Steven Moffat has now actually gone insane and/or entered his Baroque period.

(I think I like it.)

Baroque period? How so?

So wait, after watching the finale, am I missing the bit from the series 6 trailer where what looks like a naked River is winking at the Doctor in Stormcage? I don't think they ever showed that scene anywhere...

[identity profile] tasty-kate.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
GOOD CATCH!! I didn't see that, either! Ack, where was it? =/ Deleted? Still to come?

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
A few posts down, [livejournal.com profile] bendingwind says it's a deleted scene?

[identity profile] mfirefly10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
YES! I assumed it'd be in the finale but no dice...I guess it was a deleted/extended scene?

:(

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] bendingwind says it's a deleted scene.

[identity profile] bendingwind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
It was deleted--there was a transcript of the original scene in DWM this month apparently.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, thanks for explaining that. :)

[identity profile] bendingwind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
/still slightly heartbroken because it was a beautiful, beautiful scene T^T

There was? I have it and I didn't see that. Do you know what page?

[identity profile] bendingwind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have it either (being, tragically, stuck in the US) but I've seen scans of it. It looks like it's a smallish blurb, red, with the picture of River winking.

Hm. Maybe it was last month's, since this month's only came out last Thursday... I don't know. I don't see it. Damn. Well, back issues sometime. *g*

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't see it, either. I didn't think about it, though.

[identity profile] tasty-kate.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
I KNOW. IIIIII KNOW.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
So crazy, right? I don't know how to react!

[identity profile] mfirefly10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
IT WAS INSANE BUT I LOVED IT ANYWAY.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm still trying to decide how to feel. It wasn't what I wanted at all, but it was pretty entertaining in its own bizarre way.

[identity profile] bendingwind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
...

I'm not sure how I feel about it.

...

I may or may not have already completely 2000 words of wedding night smut. :|

I regret nothing~

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure, either.

Lol! How does that work if they rewrote the universe right after marrying? Also, was that a handfasting ceremony?

[identity profile] bendingwind.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I just posted it--trust me, it deals with all of that~

The part at the end where Amy explains that she killed someone and it counts, because she remembers it so she did it? Love that's the time travel morality she decided on and how it also explains how the wedding has to still apply.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It would have to be what Amy would apply, or most of Amy's life/lives would be nonsense. So yeah, that was good. I wonder if Kovarian's still alive somewhere, then?

Ooh, good question. So we could still have both her and the Silence knocking around...

[identity profile] lady-with-cats.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
There was much squee. BUT I'M STILL FRUSTRATED BY A LACK OF ANSWERS. Dammit.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep! It was fun but sooo confusing.

[identity profile] honeynoir.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
That was totally unexpected but I think I love it. Happy endings yay!

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't expecting it either, but it was a lot of fun in a very bizarre way.

[identity profile] honeynoir.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It really was. Heh, when I saw the cars hanging from the balloons I was like... 'this is going to be different'.

[identity profile] a-phoenixdragon.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I adored it - I'm still kind of reeling, though, lol!! Some questions answered but so many left UNANSWERED! and yes, I noticed no naked River - and there was a scene where the Doctor practically GROWLED at River (dressed in her military fatigues) that was missing as well - and a scene with three Nazis that was also missing.

But all in all, I still enjoyed it muchly!

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of missing scenes!

[identity profile] a-phoenixdragon.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they are...still hoping to see some of them. *Crosses fingers*
inkvoices: (dr who:trust)

[personal profile] inkvoices 2011-10-02 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but I think I liked it. I mean, we all knew the Doctor didn't actually die, right? So I thought this episode would be figuring out how he did it. Not how River Song tried not to do it, ha. Good for her. Plus I love Moffat's dialogue so very much - "I'm his mother-in-law" "I think Mummy needs another drink" :D

Where be these missing scenes though? :S Shame.

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe they'll be on the DVD box set?

I dunno, I don't see how sending a Doctor-shaped robot to die cheats time any less than having River not actually kill him. But logic has never been Doctor Who's main selling point. :P

[personal profile] inkvoices 2011-10-02 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I'm figuring that the Doctor dying by the Lake was a fixed point in time, because either the Doctor was always going to die there or he was always going to let everyone think he was going to die there. Like in season 4 when Mt Vesuvius was always going to explode, because of a choice the Doctor was always going to make. Heh, I remember the last Christmas special and all the debates about whether or not young Kazran and old Kazran could be in the same place and time without it being a paradox. I like to imagine that there's logic ;)

Oh please let there be deleted scenes on the box set! That would be brilliant :D

[identity profile] ladymercury-10.livejournal.com 2011-10-02 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
That seems a bit like making Pompeii stay a fixed point, but evacuating the entire population and throwing a bunch of corpses you dug out of a cemetery around the town so that it still looked like everyone died. But who knows.

[personal profile] inkvoices 2011-10-02 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
And then eveyone believing it. Ha.

Oh well, the Doctor lies.
