recs for you and recs for me

So I'm fresh off a week of reccing at [livejournal.com profile] calufrax and apparently can't stop.  Ergo, Doctor Who recs for my flist.  Here are a few of my favorite fanworks--by no means all.  If you have anything you'd like to rec back, I'd love to see it in the comments.

Title: You Are What You Love

In a nutshell: It's a lovely fanvid for Eleven/Amy.  The song choice is fantastic, and the clips suit it well.  I couldn't get Jenny Lewis out of my head, so I had to go and buy the song.  Go watch it.  It's short.  You will love it.

Title: (he wasn't there again today)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] lizbee
In a nutshell:
Amy and the Doctor, post- "Cold Blood."  Very short, very sweet, sad, and spot-on. (Ooh, alliteration!)

Title: If I Fall
Author: [livejournal.com profile] promethia_tenk
In a nutshell:
River/Eleven.  A gorgeous examination of how hard it is to be together out of order.  Rated R, but nothing really to warn for.

Title: Upholding the Laws of Time
Author: [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2
In a nutshell:
The Tenth Doctor meets Calvin and Hobbes and sabotages their time machine.  Quite short, and absolutely in-character all the way around.  And did I mention adorable?

Title: 50 Things I'm No Longer Allowed To Do At The Academy, by Theta Sigma
Author: [livejournal.com profile] calapine
In a nutshell:
Hilarious.  Exactly what it says on the tin.  If you've not found your way to Calapine's journal by now, GO!  Right now!  If you haven't read Stories We Tell Our Children, you absolutely need to go read it right now.  It's her S5 finale fic, and it's so good it will make you cry.

Title: Here shall John always stumble; there shall Jane's heart always break
Author: [livejournal.com profile] alibi_factory
In a nutshell:
A lot of people have commented along the lines of "This is the only Amy/Eleven I can believe," and it's definitely one of the most convincingly-executed fics in that pairing.  It's also a bit dark, and it does have some implied sexual content, but it's a gorgeous story.  It also gets inside the Doctor's head in a very sad, beautiful way, exploring what it really means to be the last of his kind.

Great rec list! I particularly enjoyed reading [livejournal.com profile] calapine's 50 Things so I'll rec another fic I find really very funny. the angel in the house by [livejournal.com profile] cryptile is absolutely hysterical and makes me giggle every time.

(I also keep a monstrous multi-fandom fic recs list here.)

I'm not normally much of a one for video, or emo-ing over Ten, but this thing about Ten and Eleven (http://humansrsuperior.livejournal.com/155484.html) by [livejournal.com profile] humansrsuperior made me go all gooey.

Oh, and looking at your calufrax recs, I'd previously read and later kicked myself for not bookmarking Keep Her Lustrous Eyes so thanks for bringing that one back into the light.

Yay! You chose such great recs for Calufrax, I'm so glad you're posting more! *goes to read*

(And I second visiting calapine's journal to anyone who hasn't yet. And then read all her fic. Yes.)
