So I FINALLY saw The Dark Knight Rises.
It's late and I'm sleepy, so I don't have much in the way of coherent thoughts...maybe I'll post again tomorrow if I think of anything else. The short version of the story is that, short of the dubious science surrounding the nuclear explosion (Guys, you also have to worry about THE CLOUD--has no one heard of radiation poisoning?), I have all the happy feelings about this movie. Well-acted, smart, and thoughtful, with lots of great supporting characters. Anne Hathaway was fabulous as Selina/Catwoman. I love that she got to be sexy and sassy, but that wasn't the full scope of her character--she was also brave, conflicted, classy, and she could pretty much kill you with her bare hands. Michael Caine was great, as always. And Joseph Gordon-Leavitt can be in every movie as far as I'm concerned. I was really impressed with how he handled Blake, which was a more mature and less playful role than either Tom in (500) Days of Summer or Arthur in Inception, which are the characters I associate with him the most. Plus, he's adorable. There is no reason why we need a Robin (Nightwing?) sequel, but if he stars in one I will probably start hopping around my room with excitement. I also really liked the who's-the-heir-to-Ra's al Ghul bait and switch.
Does anyone want to show me where the Batman fandom on LJ is hanging out? Icons, fic, vids, meta, what have you. I would especially like Selina-, Miranda-, or Blake-centric fic if it exists. And if you posted in the past two weeks and want to link me, I would love to see your reaction posts.

Aww that's so cool that you remember him from when you were a kid!
Haha, mine was knee-jerk and flaily, so I will definitely check your post out. :D
That's how it was with Amazing Spider-Man, too. Like, it has a meme and a bit of a fandom, but everyone else is too caught up with The Avengers to get the other superhero balls properly rolling, it seems.
Thanks for looking! And people are shipping Blake/Bane? That seems a little...random, unless it's some kind of holdover from all the Arthur/Eames in the Inception fandom. I found and am reading this Blake and Selina fic that I think is gen (still in the middle, hard to tell how it'll end) and it is SO GOOD.

LOL, I got back from the theater at like, 2am and punched that out. So it may or may not be comprehensible.
Yeah, it's definitely an Arthur/Eames holdover. I don't know where else that would have come from. I've read some where Bane is like... a dream Eames has, which was kind of cool in concept (I don't remember if the fic was that good, I wasn't in the mood for it then). But most of it is a bit... non/dub-con for my taste.
OOOO, Link? I've been looking for good Dark Knight Fic. I do love The Avengers, so it's hard for me to feel upset about the wealth of fic and stuff rolling in. But I am sad that it's overshadowing other things. Another contributing factor though may just be the overall mood of the Nolan-verse? I know that it was a tough place for me to get my head into when I was writing.

Here is the link!
I missed The Avengers because I didn't get back from school until the first week of June, so I have no feels related to it currently. Maybe when it comes out on DVD I will understand the excitement? And yeah, it could be the Nolan-verse, or for all I know, Batman in general. I've never paid enough attention to comics fandom to know for sure.

Yeah, I have no idea whether it's Nolan-verse or Batman altogether. I just know where my own difficulties were, and assume that I'm probably not the only one. My hunch though, is that there's not all that much room for fluffy fic in the Nolan-verse, and fluff tends to get churned out a lot easier than angst.
I found the Blake fic that I was thinking of: The Ghost In This House, about him putting on the Batsuit for the first time. There's not much going on plot-wise, but I just liked it as a collection of images, and I was able to hear JGL-as-Blake's voice in it, which is always a good thing.

Oooh! I will go read that, then. I found some nice stuff on AO3 last night, mainly this and this. They are both Blake-centric and pretty short.
