Harry Potter?

So I never read the Harry Potter books as a kid, but my college's library has them.  I checked out the first book.  Tell me why I'll love it, hate it, etc.!

What the previous comment said! =D Also, there is a great variety of characters, most of them very likeable in one way or the other. And the series gets more mature as Harry and his friends grow up.

Yeah, I think part of what I missed by not reading them when I was younger is growing up as Harry does.
